Kothrud, 24th May 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a significant step by suspending work on the proposed monorail project in the Late Tatyasaheb Thorat Udyan located in Kothrud. This decision comes following persistent advocacy from MP Vandana Chavan and numerous enthusiasts of the garden.

In accordance with the PMC order, which addresses the “permanent cancellation of the proposed monorail project in Thorat Udyan, Kothrud, Pune,” concerns raised by Chavan and other garden enthusiasts prompted two letters urging the cancellation of the monorail project. Subsequently, complaints regarding the permanent cancellation of the proposed project were regularly forwarded to the Garden Department for further action.

Furthermore, acting on the directives issued by the additional municipal commissioner (Estate), Pune Municipal Corporation, the approved contractor for the project has been served a ‘work suspension notice,’ resulting in the halting of all ongoing work associated with the monorail project.
