Pune’s Ganesh Visarjan Procession Concludes in 28 Hours; 2 Hours Earlier Than Last Year

Pune, 18th September 2024: Yesterday, Pune was immersed in the joy of Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) celebrations. The immersion procession is a significant event in Pune, celebrated by everyone. Last year, the Ganesh Visarjan Procession lasted for 30 hours and 25 minutes. This year, the duration was reduced by two hours, with the procession concluding in 28 hours, according to Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. Today, at 3 PM, Maharashtra Tarun Mandal in Bhavani Peth was the last Ganesh Mandal to immerse its idol after the grand procession.

Yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Guardian Minister of Pune District Ajit Pawar initiated the procession for Manacha Pahila, Kasba Ganpati. The immersion procession concluded in Pune today at 3 PM after approximately 28 hours. Pune City CP Amitesh Kumar shared this information during a press conference accompanied by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill.

CP Amitesh Kumar stated that approximately eight thousand police officers were on duty for the Ganeshotsav immersion procession, ensuring a smooth and enthusiastic event. Laser lights were prohibited, but reports indicate that some individuals used laser lights in certain areas, and some Ganesh Mandals exceeded the decibel limit. Appropriate action will be taken against such offenders in accordance with the rules. However, the exact number of violations is currently unavailable. Due to the efficient planning and efforts of all officers and staff, the procession continued until 3 PM.

As in previous years, Maharashtra Tarun Mandal from Bhavani Peth was the last mandal to immerse its Ganpati idol, and the procession lasted for 28 hours.
