Pune Zilla Parishad Unveils List of 49 Unauthorized English Medium Schools
Pune, 11th July 2024: Parents in Pune city and district often struggle to get their children admitted to English medium schools. As a result, many enroll their children in private English schools, paying high fees, only to find that these schools are often unauthorized.
To address this issue, the primary and secondary education departments of Pune Zilla Parishad released a list of 49 unauthorized schools in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and rural areas of the district on Wednesday, 10th July. This list serves as a caution from the Education Departments of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to parents, advising them not to admit their children to these unauthorized schools.
Education Officer (Primary) Sanjay Naikade stated that these unauthorized schools include 14 in Pune city (including newly incorporated villages in PMC), 25 in rural areas of the Pune District, and 11 in PCMC.
A joint campaign was conducted by the administrative officers of PMC, PCMC, and all group education officers of the district to identify unauthorized schools in Pune city and district. Naikade explained that the list of schools found to be unauthorized was announced as a result of this campaign.
Sanjay Naikade emphasized, “As per the provisions of the RTE Act, no school can be started without the approval of the local authority and a no-objection certificate. However, some schools are operating in violation of this law without the necessary permissions, making them unauthorized.”
One parent expressed his frustration, saying, “Many English medium private schools in the rural areas of the district are unauthorized. These schools deceive parents and students by admitting them despite their unofficial status. Unauthorized schools must be completely shut down to prevent parents from being cheated.”
The unauthorized schools include Orchids International School (Undri), Elpro International School and Delhi Public School (Hinjawadi), Kidzee School (Daund), Abhang Shishu Vikas (Kasurdi), Yashshree English Medium School (Sonwadi), Srinath English Medium School (Purandar), The Narayana E Techno School (Wagholi), Golden Era English Medium School (Haveli), Floring Flora English Medium School (Manjri), EMH English Medium School (Phursungi), VTIL English Medium School (Bhekrai Nagar), Tiger International School and Marigold International School (Kadamwakwasti), Ramdas City School (Loni Kalbhor), Smt Sulochana Zende Bal Vikas Mandir (Kunjirwadi), Shiv Samarth English Medium School (Jambhulwadi), Bhairavnath English Medium School (Moi), and Jesus Christ’s English Medium School (Khamshet), among others.
