Pune, 27th March 2023: The Pune Zilla Parishad has taken the initiative to bring products made by women’s self-help groups in the Pune district to the market. The Zilla Parishad is providing loans to women’s self-help groups in the district to start industries, with a total loan of Rs 240 crores given in this financial year alone.

As a result, more than 40 small-scale industries have been started in the district, receiving significant support.

The concept of “One Group One Product” has been implemented in the district to encourage self-help groups to increase their production efficiency. In the last two years, the Zilla Parishad has provided loans worth Rs 450 crores at a concessional interest rate through banks to women’s self-help groups to start their businesses, including a recent loan of Rs 240 crores. The Zilla Parishad has also made the market available for the products of these groups.

71 companies have been established through Pune women farmers and self-help groups, with funds provided by the State Government, Zilla Parishads, and loan capital at discounted interest rates through various banks.

In line with its policy of empowering women economically through self-help groups, the state government launched the Mahajivika Abhiyan last year under the “Umed” initiative of the State’s Village Development and Panchayat Raj Department. The initiative has provided women from self-help groups with skill training at the village level, aimed at lifting them out of poverty.
