Pune, 1st April 2024: Tensions escalated to violence at the offices of Zepto Delivery Company situated in Wadkar Mala, Mohammadwadi Road, as a confrontation erupted between the manager and a delivery boy over recent ‘0 Rating’ or ‘Bad Rating’ feedback.

The incident took place on the evening of March 30, prompting both parties to file complaints against each other, leading to the registration of two cases by the Wanowrie Police Station.

A case has been filed against Shabaz Rafiq Shaikh, aged 29, along with an accomplice, under sections of IPC 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). The complainant, Kishore Vitthal Dhotre, aged 31, residing in Hadapsar, serves as a manager at ‘Zepto’ delivery company, which facilitates online deliveries nationwide.

In his complaint, Dhotre alleged that Shaikh had been receiving unfavourable ratings from customers lately, resulting in financial losses for the company. When advised by Dhotre to improve his performance, Shaikh reportedly became enraged, verbally abused Dhotre, and called an accomplice who physically assaulted Dhotre with wooden sticks, resulting in injuries.

In a retaliatory move, based on Shaikh’s complaint, a case has been registered against Dhotre under IPC 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). Shaikh alleged that Dhotre berated him for the declining ratings, accusing him of causing financial losses and reduced orders for the company. The altercation escalated as Dhotre allegedly resorted to physical assault, accompanied by verbal threats, publicly demeaning Shaikh’s position.

The investigation into both incidents is being conducted by Police Naik Sandesh Raut.
