Pune: Youth Killed By Friends Over Money Dispute, Case Solved After One and Half Years

Pune, October 12, 2020: One and a half years after a youth of Bibvewadi was allegedly murdered by his friends, a team of the Crime Branch Unit-2 has arrested three accused in this connection.

According to police officials, the deceased Deepak Bapu Wadkar (21) was taken to Warandha Ghat under the pretext of sightseeing by the accused. Disputing over the money, Wadkar repeatedly abused and threatened to kill the accused. Losing his temper, the accused got the victim drunk, where he was stabbed to death. After killing him, his body was dumped in a deep trench. His family members had lodged a missing person complaint on March 18, 2019, with Bibvewadi police station.

Recently the Crime Branch nabbed Ganesh Chavan (23), Vishal Jadhav ( 32), Sunil Vasave (23), all residents of Bibvewadi, while they were preparing for dacoity under the jurisdiction of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. Their accomplice Dashrath Arun Shinde had managed to escape.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to killing Wadkar. Based on their information, police with the help of a trekker team recovered the remains of a human skeleton from a 600-foot-deep ditch. The forensic lab will examine the skeleton and other materials found from the spot.

The case was solved by a team led by Crime Branch Unit 2 Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap, Assistant Police Inspector Jayant Jadhav, Sub-Inspector Nitin Shinde, Assistant Sub Inspector Ambre, Usulkar, and police personnel Taru, Bhilare, Chormale, Farande, Sheikh and Madane. Bhagwan Chawla, Akshay Shelar, Akshay Bhokare, Sunil Balkwade, Sumit Gawde of the mountaineering organization assisted the Police.
