Pune Woman Studying in US Duped of Over Rs 11 Lakhs by Fraudulent Priest
Deccan, 21st August 2024: A Pune citizen studying in the United States was duped by a fraudulent priest of over Rs 11 Lakhs. The 21-year-old woman reported the incident to Deccan Gymkhana Police Station, and a case has been registered against Siddharth Abhay Kumar Aamale, a resident of Kalewadi. The accused promised to resolve the complainant’s household problems and defrauded her of money. This incident occurred between November 2022 and April 2024.
According to police reports, the complainant, who is now studying in Chicago, USA, was misled by the accused, who gained her trust by offering online puja and other worship services, claiming they would resolve her household issues. He requested money for these services, assuring her that it would be returned later. As she did not receive any money back, she reported the fraud to the police. The woman had paid Rs 11,83,000 to the accused.
