Pune: Woman Loses Rs 1.9 Lakh In Facebook Scam Promising ‘One Plate Free’ From Sukanta Thali

Pune, 28th April 2023: A woman in Pune fell victim to a cyber scam after responding to an advertisement on Facebook offering “one plate on one plate free” at a popular hotel, Sukanta Thali in Deccan area.
The 38-year-old woman has filed a complaint after being cheated out of Rs 1,99,000. The accused, identified as Prakash Kumar and four accomplices from Munnar district of Kerala, have been booked and a case has been registered at Khadak Police Station. The incident took place on July 22, 2022.
According to the police, the complainant’s mother saw the advertisement on Facebook and called the mobile number provided. The accused, Prakash Kumar, then obtained the complainant’s father’s bank account information, leading to a withdrawal of Rs 1,99,000 from his ICICI Bank credit card.
Senior Police Inspector Sangeeta Yadav is investigating the case.
