Pune: Woman IT Engineer Murdered, Husband Injured In Family Feud

Shirur, 27th April 2023: A man’s anger towards his family’s decision to bring him to the village from Pune and start a farming business leads to a violent attack resulting in death and injury.

The incident took place on Thursday (April 25) in Amble (Shirur) and involved Anil Balasaheb Bendre attacking his step-brother and sister-in-law with a knife and iron dumbbells, killing his sister-in-law and seriously injuring his brother. After fleeing the scene on a motorbike, Anil died after colliding with a car.

Anil and Sunil Bendre, both highly educated and employed in Pune, were brought to the village by their father on April 15 after Sunil suggested Anil start a farming business due to his unemployment and alcohol addiction. Anil, who was not mentally prepared for farming and life in the village, became angry and fought with his father for money to return to Pune.

On April 23, Anil damaged household items in a fit of anger but calmed down after family intervention. However, on April 24, in a fit of rage, Anil attacked his brother and sister-in-law with dumbbells. The family, awoken by the commotion, rushed to help, and Anil escaped on a motorbike. His sister-in-law Priyanka died on the spot, and Anil’s brother Sunil was seriously injured.

Anil’s bike collided with a car, resulting in severe injuries. He was taken to Sassoon Hospital for treatment, where he died.

Shirur Sub Divisional Police Officer Yashwant Gawari, Police Inspector Suresh Kumar Raut, Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Yadav, Police Sub Inspector Vikram Jadhav, and Sunil Ugle, Sujata Patil, Eknath Patil, and ASI Gopinath Chavan were among those who rushed to the spot after the incident.

Priyanka and Sunil were both IT engineers who had recently been hired by a company in London. They had intended to settle in the UK after the job began, and the couple had come to their village to meet their family before their departure.
