Nigdi, 29th August 2024: A tragic incident occurred on August 16 when a 50-year-old woman from Hadapsar lost her life after falling from an autorickshaw near Thermax Chowk in Nigdi, Pimpri Chinchwad. The woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The victim’s husband filed a complaint with the Nigdi police on Tuesday, leading to a case being registered against the autorickshaw driver. The driver is facing charges under sections 106(2) [causing death by negligent driving] and 281 [rash driving on a public way] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Assistant Inspector Tanaji Kadam of the Nigdi police provided details of the incident, stating that the accident took place around 7 a.m. on August 16. “The victim was traveling with two other women in an autorickshaw, heading from Khandobamal Chowk to Thermax Chowk. As they approached Thermax Chowk, she fell from the vehicle and lost consciousness. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she did not survive,” Kadam explained.

The case was registered based on the complaint lodged by the woman’s husband. “We are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. We are exploring whether the woman may have experienced a medical issue that caused her to faint and fall out of the autorickshaw. We are currently awaiting the detailed post-mortem report for further clarity,” Kadam added.

The victim’s husband claimed that the autorickshaw hit a pothole, causing his wife to fall out of the vehicle. “We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to verify the sequence of events on that day,” said Kadam, emphasizing that all possible angles are being examined in the investigation.
