Pune: Woman Arrested for Defrauding Businessman of Rs 2.4 Crore in Printing Press and Media Investment Scam

Pune, 24th April 2023: A woman has been arrested by Markeyard Police for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 2 crore 4 lakhs over a period of five years.

The accused, identified as Aparna Ashok Giri, had promised the businessman high returns if he invested money in printing press and media houses. The complainant, Premchand Pitambar Bhole, had filed a complaint against Aparna, following which the police arrested her.

According to the police, Aparna had met Premchand in 2018 and convinced him to invest in the printing press and media business by promising him high returns. She had informed him that she would get more licenses if he invested Rs 3 crore, and he invested Rs 2 crore 49 lakh in the business. Aparna returned Rs 44 lakh and 90 thousand to Premchand in small increments for a few months, claiming that she had made profits in the business. However, when Premchand asked about the remaining Rs 2 crore 4 lakh 10 thousand, Aparna refused to pay and cheated him.

Assistant Police Inspector Madan Kamble is investigating the cas.

The accused Aparna Giri, along with two others, has also been involved in a case of fraud of Rs 2 crore 76 lakh 50 thousand, wherein they defrauded a builder on the pretext of selling a plot in Nigdi authority. A case of fraud has been registered against Aparna Giri, Narendra Ramchandra Shengar, and Dharma Sonu Golhar at Nigdi police station.
