Wanowrie, 13th September 2024: The International WeLoveU Foundation, in collaboration with Shivarkar Hospital, Wanowrie, Pune, has taken a significant step toward improving the medical environment by setting up a water purification plant. This initiative aims to provide clean water to both patients and medical staff, a critical necessity in the region grappling with water scarcity due to irregular rainfall, rapid urbanization, and population growth.

The water purification plant was inaugurated on September 11, 2024, with the WeLoveU Foundation, an affiliate of the United Nations Department of Global Communications (UN DGC), leading the effort. Chaired by Zahng Gil-jah, the foundation donated an 80K drinking fountain and a water purification filter to the hospital.

At the donation ceremony, which was attended by hospital staff and representatives from the Pune Municipal Corporation, a WeLoveU official remarked, “With 80% of the human body being composed of water, it is no exaggeration to say that water is life. Providing clean water is the first step towards a healthy and happy life. We hope that patients receiving treatment at the hospital can soon return to their healthy daily lives, supported by access to clean water.”

Dr. Nina Borade, Health Chief of Pune City, highlighted the importance of the donation. “WeLoveU, as the name suggests, stands for love. In today’s society, love is something we are in dire need of. By donating a water purifier, WeLoveU has shown an act of genuine care. The rise in waterborne diseases due to contaminated water is alarming, and clean water is a basic necessity not just for us, but for future generations.”

Dr. Dipti Bacchaw, Medical In-Charge at Shivarkar Hospital, expressed her appreciation for the donation, stating, “Providing pure water for patients is an essential need. Through this generous contribution, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah and the WeLoveU Foundation have demonstrated their commitment to helping the community. The foundation doesn’t just say ‘We Love You’—it shows it through its actions. We are truly grateful.”

The International WeLoveU Foundation is a global welfare organization that operates under the motto, “Spread Mother’s Love Across the Globe.” In addition to Pune, the foundation has supported various regions by providing clean water and sanitation facilities, including Kolkata, Kendujhar, and Cuttack. In Telangana, it has donated water purification systems to schools in Hyderabad and Warangal, ensuring that students can access safe drinking water and focus on their education.

WeLoveU’s extensive welfare activities include environmental conservation, educational support, community welfare, emergency relief, and the eradication of poverty and hunger. These initiatives span several Indian states, including Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The foundation also leads the ‘World Environmental Clean-Up Campaign,’ aimed at purifying cities, parks, rivers, and seas, as well as the ‘Global Blood Donation Drive,’ which addresses critical blood shortages.
