Pune: Water Tanker Hits Two-Wheeler in Hinjawadi, Leaving Wife Dead and Husband Hospitalized

Hinjawadi, 24th September 2024: In Hinjawadi, a married couple was involved in a road accident that resulted in the wife’s death and the husband being seriously injured. The couple was on a two-wheeler when they collided with a water tanker. The incident occurred in Phase 2 of Hinjawadi yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Gunjan Hole, 29, while her husband Amit, both residents of Tathawade, sustained injuries. Gunjan’s cousin, Nakul Kishore Akhare, 31, a resident of Baner, filed a complaint with the Hinjawadi Police Station. A case has been registered against Lala Subhash Khude, 32, a resident of Mangaon and native of Pandharpur.

The charges include offences under BNS Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 106 (1) (causing death by negligence), 125 (B) (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

According to police reports, Amit and Gunjan were riding a Honda Unicorn in the Phase 2 area when a water tanker approached. The driver was allegedly speeding and not following traffic rules. The tanker collided with them from behind, injuring Amit and fatally striking Gunjan. Police Sub-Inspector Devidas Phad from Hinjawadi Police Station is investigating further. He stated, “Amit was taken to Aundh District Hospital yesterday, and according to doctors, he is in stable physical condition.”
