Pune: Water Released From Dams In Midnight; Rain Caused Dams To Full On High Capacity

Pune, 5th September 2024: The 856 cusecs of water were released from the Khadakwasla dam into the Mutha river at midnight on Wednesday (4th September).

It has been raining in the Khadakwasla dam chain since morning. 26 mm of rain in Temghar, Panshet recorded 25 mm, Varasgaon 12 mm, and Khadakwasla recorded one mm of rain till 12 Am on Wednesday night.

Varasgaon dam was 99.54 per cent full at 5 pm while the same dam recorded 99.91 per cent filled-in capacity by 12 Am. Hence as much as 900 cusecs of water was released into the river Mose at 12 Am in the night. At the same time, 600 cusecs of water have been released for power generation. 275 cusecs of water from Temghar power generation, 600 cusecs of water from Panshet power generation, totaling 2375 cusecs of water is directly accumulating.

1,005 cusecs of water were being released through the canal from Khadakwasla Dam. At 12 Am, 96.64 water was recorded in Khadakwasla. Reportedly, the rainfall in the area increased relatively after 10 pm. Therefore, 856 cusecs of water discharged from Khadakwasla dam at midnight.
