Pune: Warje Police Recover 15 Stolen Laptops, Returned To Owners

Pune, 6th November 2023: In a commendable operation, the Warje police station officials successfully recovered 15 laptops stolen from rooms of students.

The laptops were seized from the arrested thief, identified as Arjun Tukaram Zade (22), a resident of Hingane Home Colony, Karvenagar. The operation also led to the arrest of Prateek Mandekar and Rishikesh Shirke, both residents of Mavleali, Karvenagar, resulting in the recovery of more stolen valuables.

Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr and Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik handed over the laptops to the elated students today. DCP (Zone 3) Suhail Sharma and ACP Bhimrao Tele were also present, along with their team.

The modus operandi of the thieves involved entering buildings and hostels near colleges within the Warje police station limits. Students, unknowingly, facilitated the thefts by leaving keys in accessible locations such as shoes or near doors. The thieves, upon finding the keys, would swiftly enter the rooms by unlocking the doors.

The recovered items include 15 laptops, 7 laptop chargers, a camera, and two bikes. The arrested accused not only targeted Pune but was also involved in crimes reported in Mahad City Police Station and Mangaon Police Station, showcasing the extent of their criminal activities. The total worth of the recovered valuables amounts to Rs 6.44 lakhs.

The investigation team, led by Senior Police Inspector Sunil Jaitapurkar, included officers such as Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Kulkarni, Police Sub-Inspectors Narendra Mundhe, Rameshwar Parve, and a team of police personnel comprising Pradeep Shelar, Hanumant Masal, Amol Raut, Govind Phad, Vikram Khilari, Vijay Bhuruk, Bunty More, Srikanth Bhangre, Ajay Kamthe, Amol Sutkar, Rahul Handal, and Nand Kumar Chavan.
