Wanowrie, 14th January 2023: After being closed for about six months, the Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool in Wanowrie, next to the Vitthalrao Shivarkar Garden, is about to reopen.

A private company just received the pool’s management from Pune Municipal Corporation.

Due to the death of a 14-year-old child in the pool in mid-2022, the pool was closed. Recently, PMC received approval from the commissioner, and money was authorised to clean and restart the electrical supply that had been turned off.

According to Kavita Sharma, Founder Trustee and Vice President of Finance and Operations at the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India), the swimming pool should be open by the end of January.

She said, “We are currently repairing and maintaining numerous items on the property. More than eight months passed while the pool was closed. Given a large number of expired lifeguard certifications, we will start with their training initiatives.”
