Pimpri, 4th December 2023: The Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is actively conducting a comprehensive survey and numbering of properties in the city. As of now, 2 lakh 72 thousand properties have undergone this process.

Within the Wakad zone alone, out of 74 thousand properties surveyed, a staggering 29 thousand 564 unregistered properties have been identified.

This revelation has prompted Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale-Patil to estimate that upon completing the entire city’s property survey, around two and a half lakh unregistered properties could be uncovered.

Currently, the PCMC has 6 lakh 15 thousand registered properties, including residential, industrial, non-residential, and vacant land. Accumulating a significant property tax of 625 crores in the municipal treasury over the last eight months of the financial year 2023-24, the PCMC authorities are determined to address the issue of unregistered properties.

The owners of the newly discovered unregistered properties will receive notices, and after due hearings, their properties will be officially registered. Additionally, instances of commercial use of properties initially registered as residential are being identified, and appropriate tax assessments will be enforced. The PCMC administration is taking strict action against citizens who issue bounced checks for tax payments, with orders from Additional Commissioner Jambhale-Patil to file legal cases against those attempting to deceive the municipality with insufficient funds in their bank accounts.
