Wakad, 30th August 2024: A 30-year-old woman died by suicide after jumping from the 6th floor of her building, allegedly due to ongoing marital issues. The mental and physical torture inflicted by her husband and his family drove her to take this drastic step. Her character was frequently questioned by them. This incident occurred in Tathawade on Wednesday (28th August).

The deceased’s father, Pradeep Narayanrao Jamindar (68, resident of Indore), filed a complaint at Wakad Police Station. A case has been registered against her husband, Keshari Nandan Tejnarayan Lal Karn (33), and her mother-in-law, both residents of Tathawade. Charges have been filed under various sections, including Section 108 (abetment of suicide), Section 80 (dowry death), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), and Section 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

According to police reports, the complainant’s daughter married the accused, and after the marriage, the accused and his family began subjecting her to physical and mental abuse. They reportedly believed they were not shown proper respect during the marriage and did not receive enough dowry. They restricted her from leaving the house and frequently questioned her character. Tired of the constant torture, she jumped from the balcony of her 6th-floor home, resulting in her death by suicide. Assistant Police Inspector Pawar from Wakad Police Station is investigating the matter further.
