Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th October 2026: A video purportedly showing a liquor party in the postmortem department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) has raised questions over discipline and accountability at the civic-run facility.

The video allegedly shows a liquor bottle, filled glasses, snacks and meal plates on a table in the department where postmortems are conducted. The incident has triggered concerns over alleged misconduct in a sensitive area of the hospital. However, the authenticity of the video and the circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be officially established.

According to sources, the incident allegedly came to light when a person who had visited the hospital to obtain a death certificate claimed that they had waited through the night without receiving it. The person reportedly went to the department to find out the reason for the delay and allegedly discovered the party. They further claimed that they were asked to pay Rs 9,000 to get the dead body.

The episode has also raised questions about whether essential services are being provided to citizens in a timely manner.

Sources said the person whose face is visible in the video is a permanent medical officer at the hospital. The identity of another person seen in the footage remains unclear. However, the identities of those involved, the alleged consumption of alcohol and the circumstances of the incident have not been officially confirmed.

If the allegations are substantiated, the incident could raise serious questions about discipline and administrative accountability at the hospital. The video needs to be verified, attendance records examined and any potential violation of rules investigated.

Attention is now on the YCMH administration and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to determine whether an inquiry will be initiated and what action, if any, will be taken if the allegations are proved.
