Pune, October 22, 2020: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) students who recently took their final year examination alleged have expressed their disappointment over the online conduct of the examination. The final years’ students have claimed that many questions in the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) were asked ‘out of the syllabus’, and a few were from different subjects as well.

The exam related problems came to light when the final year students started posting on social media and urged the SPPU examination department to either reconduct or give marks for the ‘out of the syllabus’ questions.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a student said, “In my recent exam for the subject- Product design and development (PDD), as per the syllabus, the online exam should be till 4th unit. But, around 80 percent of the MCQs were asked from unit 5, and unit 6. This will result in poor grades for students and will affect their careers as well.”

Another B.E(Mechanical) student said, “The notification had said that exam will be from 55% to 66% of the syllabus which meant upto 4 units will be asked. However, most of the questions were from unit 5 and unit 6. My sincere request is that we should be given marks atleast for the same.”

Shubham Jain, a TY BBA student, said, “I had an MCS exam, but HR questions were seen in the paper, SPPU should give us marks for these questions.”

“The PDD exam that was conducted on October 20, had mostly all questions from unit 5 and unit 6. This might affect the grades of the students, requesting administration to look into the matter”, said another student who gave PDD exam.

Punekanews.in informed about this issue to Mahesh Kakade, Director of Examination and Evaluation, he said, “We have verified every question with the Department before publishing. However, there is a possibility of out of syllabus questions. I am not denying the fact. Therefore, we have given extra questions, as well. So, if any students have to raise complaints. We request them to connect with us.”
