Pune, 18th May 2021: A year ago, when Covid-19 pandemic hit the entire nation and people lost their jobs and livelihood and were on their way back home because they had nothing to eat, they were dying out of starvation. In such tough times, a resident of Pune Navdeep Singh reaches out to feed the hungry, the stranded, and the homeless. Those were the times when he started an initiative – Two Meals Extra to feed the needy.

Two Meals Extra started when Navdeep sent a message to the houses in his society, “Can we make two meals extra for those who do not have food?” and families responded with food packets. As a result, a number of beggars, labourers and homeless people had their first meal in days. This initiative was started in Pune and soon it expanded to various cities i.e New Delhi, Bangalore, Nashik and Vellore as well.

So far they have provided 1200+ meals to the needy with the help of all contributors and donors including 50+ societies and 500 odd flats. The founder Navdeep Singh said, “I am happy because I do the most for others. Are you doing enough? He urged people to cook two meals extra to feed the stranded and homeless.

Since the outbreak of the second wave of Covid-19, they have started delivering breakfast to Doctors and nurses as well.

Frontline warriors like doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers who are ensuring that COVID-19 patients receive the medical care they need, should not starve due to heavy hours of work. And therefore the team is providing breakfast to Doctors and Nurses.

Co-founder Prateek said, “Giving anything is not about making a donation. It’s about making a difference in someone’s life. We as a society should be able to help each other.”
