Pune: Two History-Sheeters Arrested for Vehicle Theft in Hinjawadi; Six Cases Solved

Hinjawadi, 23rd August 2024: Two notorious history-sheeters involved in vehicle theft have been arrested by Pimpri Chinchwad Police. The police set up a trap when the thieves arrived at Laxmi Chowk in Hinjawadi on Wednesday (21st August) and detained the duo. As a result of this arrest, six cases registered with Pune City, Pune Rural, and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Forces have been solved. The police also recovered five two-wheelers and one auto rickshaw from them.

Bharat Sopan Jadhav (age 53, resident of Wakad) had his two-wheeler stolen on 19th August. While investigating this case, the police arrested Akshay Babulal Rakavat and Madanlal Choturam Devasi (both residents of Jambe, Mulshi, and natives of Rajasthan). A case has been registered against them under BNS Section 303 (theft).

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, Bharat Jadhav’s two-wheeler, worth Rs 20,000, was stolen by the duo while it was parked in Jambe village, Mulshi, on 19th August. During the investigation, the Hinjawadi Police received information that the two suspects were bringing a stolen bike to Laxmi Chowk, Hinjawadi.

The police set up a trap and detained Akshay and Madanlal. When questioned, they admitted to stealing the two-wheeler from Jambe village. Further questioning led to the seizure of four two-wheelers and a rickshaw. This operation has also revealed two cases of vehicle theft each at the Hinjawadi and Wakad Police Stations, and one case each at the Hadapsar and Paud Police Stations.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wakad Division) Sunil Kurhade. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiyya Thorat and Police Inspector (Crime) Rushikesh Ghadge, included Assistant Police Inspector Ram Gomare, Police Sub Inspectors Bandu Marne, Balkrushna Shinde, Naresh Balsane, Bapusaheb Dhumal, Yogesh Shinde, Kailas Kengle, Kunal Shinde, Vikram Kudal, Arun Narale, Ritesh Koli, Shrikant Chavan, Karbhari Palve, Datta Shinde, Omprakash Kamble, and Mangesh Lokhande.
