Kalyani Nagar, 2nd June 2024: In an unusual incident at midnight in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune, a police officer conducting a vehicle inspection asked a youth to press his legs, leading to public outrage and a viral video.

“PSI Gorade, age 57, of the Yerwada Traffic Division, was conducting a drunk driving check at Adlabs Chowk, Kalyani Nagar. After working continuous night shifts for two days followed by day duty, his blood sugar level rose to 550. Consequently, he experienced a leg cramp and suddenly sat down on the ground. The person in the footage helped relieve the cramp in his leg. We are still verifying the facts and will take necessary action,” said DCP (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar.

The incident unfolded when some youths from the Sanaswadi area were traveling home to Pune by car. Around midnight, during a routine vehicle check in Kalyani Nagar, the police stopped the driver and issued a fine. During this process, PSI Gorade, who was part of the inspection team, asked one of the youths to press his legs. The youths recorded a video of the incident, which quickly went viral on social media.

The video shows the youth pressing the officer’s legs while other officers and motorists look on. The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning the appropriateness of the officer’s conduct.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident. “We are committed to maintaining high standards of conduct among our officers and will take appropriate action based on the findings of our investigation,” DCP Pawar added.
