Pune Tourists Assault Hotelier, Run Over Sister With Car While Under Influence of Alcohol in Harihareshwar, Raigad

Raigad/Pune, 21st October 2024: A shocking incident occurred in Harihareshwar, Raigad District. Following an argument over lodging rates, some tourists from Pune District, under the influence of alcohol, assaulted a hotel businessman. While leaving, they also ran over the hotel businessman’s sister with their Mahindra Scorpio Car. Three individuals have been arrested by Shrivardhan Police Station under the Raigad Police. The incident took place at 1:30 AM on the weekend.

The hotel businessman has been identified as Abhi Dhamnaskar, and his sister, Jyoti Dhamnaskar, was run over by the accused. Three suspects have been arrested, while a search for the remaining ones is ongoing. A case of culpable homicide has been registered against them.

The absconding accused are Akash Upatkar, Neeraj Upatkar, Akash Gawade, Ashish Sonawane, Anil Maaj, Vicky Singh, Sachin Jamadar, Aadil Shaikh, Irappa Dhotare, and Sachin Tillu.

Harihareshwar, a pilgrimage site in Raigad District known as South Kashi, is considered an important religious destination in India. The village is located among four hills—Brahmagiri, Vishnugiri, Sivagiri, and Parvati. To the north of the village lies the temple of Harihareshwar, believed to be blessed by Lord Vishnu. In this usually peaceful, holy place, such a disturbing incident has caused chaos.
