Pune: Torrential Rains Flood Low-Lying Areas of Lonavala, Roads Turn into Rivers
Lonavala, 26th July 2024: The low-lying areas of Lonavala have been flooded due to torrential rains. As the roads are filled with water, they have taken the form of rivers, causing significant distress to residents. Employees are struggling to reach their workplaces and offices.
In the last 24 hours, the area has experienced severe rainfall, with the highest recorded rainfall of the season at 275 mm.
20 to 22 tourists were trapped in a bungalow in Malavli near Lonavala. The Shivdurg Mitra Lonavala Rescue Team successfully evacuated these tourists. They were inside the bungalow and unaware of the cloudburst-like rain outside. When they stepped out, they found the entire area flooded. All these tourists have been safely evacuated.
