Ganesh Nagar (Bopkhel), 3rd August 2024: Three-and-a-half-year-old Girija Ganesh Shinde lost her life after an iron gate fell on her in Ganesh Nagar near Bopkhel, Pimpri Chinchwad. The tragic incident took place on July 31, leading to a case being registered against the owners of Vrindavan Society today.

Ganesh Shinde, the grieving father, lodged a complaint at the Dighi police station, resulting in a case being filed against Srinivasalu Saminareddy, the owner of Vrindavan Society, and his mother for negligence.

The incident took place in Ganesh Nagar, lane number two, where four children, including Girija, were playing near the iron gate. Two of the children had entered the gate, while Girija and her friend remained outside. Moments later, Girija ran back towards the gate. When the children inside the gate pulled it, the gate, lacking a stopper, fell forward directly onto Girija, causing fatal injuries.

Ganesh Shinde had been demanding accountability for the incident, insisting that the absence of a stopper on the gate constituted negligence on the part of the Vrindavan Society owners. Yesterday, the Dighi Police registered a case against the owners for their failure to ensure the safety of the gate. As of now, the accused have not been arrested.
