Pune: Three Uttar Pradesh Residents Arrested for Burglary at Fashion Designer Nivedita Saboo’s Couture in Kalyani Nagar

Pune, 18th August 2024: A team from Pune Police’s Crime Branch Unit 4 has arrested three individuals from Ranjangaon for their involvement in a burglary at fashion designer Nivedita Saboo’s showroom in Kalyaninagar. The suspects, who were apprehended on August 7, allegedly broke into the showroom, stealing cash and merchandise totaling Rs 2 lakhs.

The arrested suspects are identified as Vivek alias Gurudev Maniram Rajput (30), a resident of Ranjangaon originally from Mainpur, Uttar Pradesh; Abhishek Singh alias Pradip Pappusing (25) from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh; and Amit Singh Vijay Singh (31) from Bandha, Uttar Pradesh. The police have also recovered stolen material worth Rs 25,000 from their possession.

According to police, the burglary took place on August 7. The thieves targeted Saboo’s clothing store in Kalyaninagar, breaking the lock to access the hall and stealing expensive shirts valued at Rs 1,99,000. A complaint was lodged with the Yerawada Police Station.

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Ajay Waghmare, the Crime Branch’s Unit 4, led by Police Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Magadum, conducted a thorough investigation. They used technical methods to trace the suspects to Ranjangaon. Acting on this information, the police set up a trap in the Sankalp City area of Ranjangaon and successfully apprehended the suspects.

During the arrest, police seized cash, stolen shirts, and two-wheelers valued at Rs 1,16,000 from the accused. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Crime Branch DCP Nikhil Pingle, ACP Satish Govekar, and other key officials, including Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerwada Police Station and Sub-Inspectors Jaideep Patil, Vaibhav Magdum, and Swapneel Patil.

The suspects, who were in Ranjangaon for work, had reportedly noticed that the lights were on in the showroom during a visit to Kalyaninagar. Taking advantage of the situation, they broke into the shop and stole both cash and merchandise.
