Pune: Three Killed, Several Injured In Major Highway Accident Involving Innova And Truck Near Khandala; Investigation Underway

Khandala, 21st April 2025: In a tragic late-night accident on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway near Khandala, three people lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a moving Innova car from behind. The accident occurred around 10:30 PM on Sunday (20th April) night.
The deceased have been identified as Priya Sagar Ingulkar, Nilesh Sanjay Lagad (42), and his 12-year-old daughter, Shravy Nilesh Lagad. All three were residents of Girija Shankar Apartment, Sadashiv Peth, Pune. According to the FIR lodged at Lonavala Rural Police Station, the incident took place when an unidentified driver of a truck (GJ 03 BT 6701) lost control and crashed into the Innova car (MH 19 BG 8067) from the rear.
The force of the impact caused the Innova to veer into the oncoming lane, where it collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in a deadly chain reaction.
The complainant, Sagar Pandurang Ingulkar (40), a private employee and resident of Tilak Road, Pune, filed the police report following the accident. He is among the relatives of one of the victims.

– Vimal Namdev Walhekar (69)
All the injured are residents of Bhiwandi, Thane district.
The case has been registered under sections 105, 324 (4)(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and sections 134(A)(B), 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The police have launched a search for the unidentified truck driver who fled the scene after the accident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and medical treatment for the injured is currently underway.
