Pune: Three Drug Peddlers Arrested With MD In Maval Area Under Sankalp Nashamukti Abhiyan

Kamshet, 3rd January 2024: In a decisive move against drug peddlers, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satyasai Karthik has led successful operations resulting in the arrest of three individuals involved in the sale of MD drugs. The operations, conducted in Mauje Taje and Naigaon areas, have demonstrated ASP Karthik’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace in the Maval area.

Young IPS officer Karthik, who has been at the forefront of legal actions against illegal activities since taking charge of the sub-division, initiated the Sankalp Nashamukti Abhiyan to combat the rising issue of drug addiction among the youth in Maval. The recent crackdown on drug peddlers is part of this larger campaign to create a drug-free environment.

Acting on information received from a confidential informant about drug sales in Mauje Taje and Naigaon, ASP Karthik swiftly organized a trap, considering the coming and going routes of the accused, their modus operandi, and other vital details. On the night of December 30, 2023, the team laid a trap in the Mauje Taje area, resulting in the dramatic arrest of accused Khandu Kute on December 31, 2023, at around 02:25 am.

Despite Kute attempting to flee on his bike at high speed, the police team apprehended him in a cinematic manner. During the search, 30 grams of MD, valued at Rs 90,000, along with packaging materials, totally worth Rs 1,30,000, were seized from his possession.

In a separate operation later on December 31, 2023, at 8:55 pm, ASP Karthik and his team arrested accused Roshan Chandrakant Oval (24) of Naigaon and Amit Bharat Bhanusghare (24) of Kamshet in the Naigaon area. The body search revealed 10 grams of MD drugs worth Rs 30,000 on each, resulting in the seizure of a total of 40 grams of MD worth Rs 1,20,000 in both operations.

Two separate cases have been registered at the Kamshet Police Station under various sections of the NDPS Act 1985 based on complaints filed by police constable Rahis Mulani. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Kamshet Police.

The successful operations were carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Ankit Goyal, Additional SP Mitesh Ghatte, and ASP Karthik. The dedicated team included Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Raul, PSI Shubham Chavan, Bharat Bhosle, and policemen Sachin Gaikwad, Nitesh (Bunty) Kawade, Ankush Naikude, Rahis Mulani, Subhash Shinde, Amol Nanvare, Ankush Pawar, Ashish Jagde and Home Guard Sagar Dalvi.
