Pune: Three Arrested in Talwade Factory Fire Case as Death Toll Reaches 9

Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th December 2023: The death toll in the fire incident at a sparkle candle manufacturing factory in Talwade, has reached nine. Six workers had died in the incident while three others succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Meanwhile, Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested three accused identified as Shubhangi Sutar, Nazir Amir Shikalkar, and Sagar Rameshchand Bhakkad.

On Friday, a massive fire engulfed the factory, resulting in the death of nine women, while seven others are currently receiving treatment at Pune’s Sassoon Hospital. Three accused have been arrested so far, with the main accused, Sharad Sutar, sustaining serious injuries and undergoing treatment in the hospital. Given the gravity of the situation in Talwade, political and local leaders are visiting the incident site.

Tragically, six women lost their lives on the spot, and due to the severity of the incident, their identities could not be immediately established. To address this, DNA tests were conducted on the deceased, leading to successful identifications.

With Saturday and Sunday being government holidays, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey diligently pursued the matter and obtained the DNA test report. The six individuals will be laid to rest in the Nigdi crematorium today.
