Pune: Thieves Attack Police Officer With Pepper Spray, Arrested
Pune 27th July 2023: In a shocking incident reported near Medankarwadi on Pune-Nashik Highway, police officer was attacked with a pepper spray by thieves who were planning to commit a robbery in the area. The incident took place at around 12:15 am on Wednesday in the jurisdiction of Chakan Police Station.
According to police, the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Amol Ramesh Dere of Chakan Police Station was patrolling with his team of policemen in the area when they spotted some suspects. The accused tried to hide themselves after noticing the police vehicle.
After noticing suspicious movement of the accused, the PSI and his team moved towards them for enquiry when one of the accused attacked him with a pepper spray to escape from the spot. However, the police team arrested the two accused identified as Nihal Harpal Singh (35), Mangesh Laxman Gaikwad (32) in the case while one more accused identified as Sanjay Padwal is yet to be arrested.
The police have seized pepper spray, screwdriver and duplicate pistol from their possession. A case in this regard has been registered at Chakan Police Station under sections 353, 332 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
