Pune, 10th March 2023: As summer approaches in Pune, people are already facing challenges due to prolonged power cuts and transformer fuse blasts, leading to frustration and helplessness among residents even before the heatwaves begin.

One such incident occurred in Ganesh Nagar, Bopkhel area of Pune city, where people spent the entire night killing mosquitoes due to a long power cut. This is a challenging time for students as exams are approaching, and professionals who are starting their day without power after a sleepless night.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited’s (MSEDCL) inability to address issues that arise at midnight is causing additional distress to residents. Often, people are left to fight not only the impending summer heat and mosquitoes but also the challenge of walking on the streets or terraces in the midst of prolonged power cuts.

Sandeep Yadav, an IT professional, expressed his frustration to the Punekarnews.in team. After working long hours, it’s hard to stay up all night fighting mosquitoes due to sudden power outages that sometimes last until the next day.

These power cuts are also having an adverse effect on local businesses. A local dairy parlor owner reported losing hundreds of liters of milk due to the long power cut, while ice cream and street food sellers also suffered losses due to the sudden lack of electricity.

It’s a challenging time for Pune City’s residents, as the power cuts in the middle of the night are making it difficult to have a peaceful night and begin the day fresh. The MSEDCL must take responsibility and work towards providing uninterrupted power supply, the residents said.

With heatwaves still to come, residents in Bopkhel are already grappling with prolonged power cuts and transformer fuse blasts. A local resident added, “The MSEDCL officials must take corrective measures to address the issue and provide a speedy resolution so that people face the summer comfortably, and businesses can resume their operations smoothly without being hindered by the prolonged power cut.”
