Pune: Suicide In College Hostel, Police Suspect Boyfriend’s Involvement

Hinjawadi, 5th February 2024: In an incident at Delta Hostel for Girls, International Institute of Management Studies (IIMS) College, a 25-year-old woman was found dead on October 3, 2023, allegedly due to relentless harassment by her boyfriend. The victim’s father filed a complaint with the Hinjawadi Police Station, Pimpri Chinchwad police, on Sunday, February 4.

The accused in this case is identified as Ashwini Bharadwaj, a native of Bihar. The victim and the accused had been in a relationship for the past three to four years. According to the police investigation, the relationship turned tumultuous, with instances of the accused physically assaulting and humiliating the victim, even in the presence of her friends.

The victim was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room. The victim’s father complained with the Hinjawadi Police Station, prompting an investigation into the circumstances leading to the suicide.
