Pune, 1st Oct 2026: A one-hour nationwide Shramdaan drive was conducted at Pune Station on Thursday under the Swachhata Hi Seva–2026 campaign, with railway officers, supervisors and employees participating in cleanliness activities across the station premises.

The Shramdaan was carried out around the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and in the parking areas of Pune Station. Employees at various field offices, stations and yards across Pune Division also participated in the one-hour cleanliness drive.

DRM Rajesh Kumar Verma, ADRM Padmasinh Jadhav, Sr DCM AK Pathak and Sr DPO Jitender Singh were present during the programme at Pune Station.

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva–2026 initiative, five Safai Mitras at Pune Station were honoured for their contribution to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at the station. The Safai Mitras were felicitated by DRM Rajesh Kumar Verma and ADRM Padmasinh Jadhav.

ADRM Padmasinh Jadhav said, “Safai Mitras play an important role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at railway stations. Their work often begins before passengers arrive and continues throughout the day to ensure that station premises remain clean and hygienic. Honouring them is a way of recognising the dignity and importance of their work and expressing respect for the responsibilities they carry out every day.”

He added, “Such recognition also gives encouragement to sanitation staff and motivates them to continue their work with dedication. It is important that the contribution of Safai Mitras is acknowledged and that they are provided with the necessary support, safety measures and facilities while carrying out their duties. Clean railway premises depend not only on cleanliness drives but also on the sustained efforts of the people who work on the ground every day.”

The cleanliness and sanitation-related activities were also conducted at several stations across Pune Division as part of Special Campaign 6.0 and Swachhata Hi Seva.

At Ahilyanagar station, a health check-up camp was organised for sanitation and cleaning staff. At Kopargaon station, dresses, PPE kits and safety gear were distributed to cleaning and sanitation personnel. A cleanliness drive was also conducted on the platform and surrounding areas at Kopargaon.

A Swachhata awareness drive was conducted at Chinchwad Station as part of Special Campaign 6.0.
