Pune: Stage Of Sound System For Dahi Handi Collapses, Organisers Booked After Three Women Injured
Pune 8th Sept 2023: The Pune City Police have booked the organisers of Dahi Handi at Ganesh Peth after an iron stage for the sound system collapsed on Thursday. Four women were seriously injured in the incident after which the Faraskhana police have lodged a case under relevant sections against the organisers.
According to police, the case has been registered against Rahul Chavan, Chetan alias Sunny Samadhan Ahire, Gopi Chandrakant Chavan and Ajay Baban Salunkhe, all members of Shrikrishna Mandal. A 38-year-old resident of Nana Peth area has lodged a complaint with police in the matter.
Three women identified as Manda Lalchand Changedia (67), Nirmala Devi Navin Poonamiya (69) and Kevalchand Mangilal Solanki (64) were injured in the incident. The injured were shifted to hospital and they are still being treated for the injuries. The incident was reported at around 10:30 am on Thursday when the women were passing from the area after attending a religious program. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
