Pimpri, 23rd October 2023: The worsening traffic congestion on the city and surrounding roads has become a growing concern, leading to daily frustrations for commuters. As the number of vehicles continues to rise, traffic jams have become an all-too-common occurrence, causing delays for everyone trying to reach their intended destinations. Furthermore, even those who opt for State Transport (ST) buses often find themselves arriving at bus stops well in advance and waiting, resulting in wasted time. To alleviate these issues and cater to the needs of common passengers, the ST Corporation has taken a proactive step by installing a Vehicle Tracking System in all of its buses, with plans to roll out this service in November.

ST buses have long been a convenient mode of transportation for common passengers, and the ST Corporation is committed to enhancing the passenger experience. In recent times, several initiatives have been introduced, such as providing free rides for women above 75 years of age and offering half-price tickets for all women. These measures have contributed to a daily ridership of lakhs of passengers. In response to the increasing number of passengers, the ST Corporation is embracing the latest technology to further improve services. The installation of the Vehicle Tracking System in all buses will offer passengers real-time information about the exact location of ST buses, enabling them to plan their journeys more efficiently and save precious time.

The ST Corporation is making strides in becoming more technologically advanced, and the integration of the Vehicle Tracking System is a testament to this progress. Passengers can now stay informed about the live location of ST buses through the MSRTC app, which offers real-time tracking and data on bus stoppage times, unauthorized stops, and the reasons for deviations from the scheduled route. This tracking system is set to bring significant benefits to passengers. It will enable station supervisors to monitor whether buses adhere to their scheduled stops, ensuring that passengers are served as expected. In cases where buses deviate from their routes without valid reasons, there will be tangible evidence for taking action against errant drivers. This proactive approach will hold drivers accountable, resulting in improved service quality and punctuality. Ultimately, the introduction of the Vehicle Tracking System is a win-win for passengers, who will not only experience greater convenience but also save valuable time during their commutes.
