Pune: SPPU First-Year MBA STudents Allegedly Ragged, University Orders Probe
Pune, 10th November 2022: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has ordered an investigation into an alleged case of harassment of a first-year Masters of Business Administration (MBA) student while disciplining 17 senior students. The 21-year-old student’s mother claimed that her daughter and other students were subjected to ragging by seniors, which the University denies. Taking note of the junior student’s and her parent’s complaint, Vice-Chancellor Professor Karbhari Kale issued warning notices to 17 senior students suspected of involvement in the ragging case.
The student also claims she went to the Chaturshrungi police station, where she was asked to communicate and coordinate with the University first. The mother, who requested to be anonymous, further claimed that her daughter and other junior students were physically and mentally tortured.
The University Administration claims that the situation is a misunderstanding between senior and junior students. However, they have ordered a probe and are investigating further.
