Pune: Sound System Seized from Koregaon Park’s Desert Water Restaurant and Bar for Violating Noise Pollution Laws
Koregaon Park, 13th March 2023: The Social Security Cell of Pune Police took action against Desert Water Restaurant and Bar located in Koregaon Park, Pune, on Saturday. The restaurant was found to be playing loud music past the permissible time limit of 10 pm, thereby violating the rules. As a result, the authorities seized the sound system and DJ mixer worth Rs 1.1 lakh.
The officials of the department were patrolling the area when they noticed loud music playing in the restaurant. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the music was being played beyond the stipulated time limit, and the owners had not adhered to the noise pollution guidelines as set by the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control of 2000) Act.
Following the seizure of the sound system, action has been taken against the owner and manager of Desert Water Restaurant and Bar. The seized material has been handed over to the Koregaon Park Police station for further action under the Noise Pollution Regulations as per the Noise Pollution and Environment Protection Act.
The action team included Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote and police personnel Ajay Rane, Jamdade and Kolge.
