Talegaon Dabhade, 3rd July 2024: A senior citizen suffering from severe familial problems was rescued by the Social Justice & Special Assistance Department of the Government of Maharashtra in Pune. The 80-year-old citizen was visited by the department at his residence in Talegaon Dabhade and was subsequently rescued. He will now be sent to an Old Age Home.

The Sanchi Integration Association complained to Vishal Londhe, Assistant Commissioner of the Social Justice & Special Assistance Department, that a man named Gangadhar Kadali from Talegaon Dabhade was being mistreated by his relatives. Upon receiving the complaint, Londhe dispatched NS Makwana and Seema Panchal to gather information about Kadali’s situation.

Kadali lived with his daughter. When the team from the Social Justice & Special Assistance Department arrived, they found him sitting on the terrace in unhealthy conditions, with severe leg injuries. When the team spoke to him, he expressed his wish and readiness to move to an Old Age Home.

D.R. Parihar from the Sanchi Integration Association and Makwana and Panchal from the Social Justice & Special Assistance Department took Kadali to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri for treatment. After his treatment, he was sent to the Pimpri Chinchwad Government Hostel, as arranged by its superintendent, with assistance from the department.

The Social Justice & Special Assistance Department has urged that senior citizens should be properly cared for. Failure to do so can result in a case being registered under the relevant sections of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and fines will be imposed by the department.
