Pimpri, 26th September 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has kicked off an ambitious skill and employment survey under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaarya Prashikshan Yojana, aimed at shaping youth development and enhancing employability. The survey, launched earlier this week, is a crucial step in understanding the needs, aspirations, and challenges faced by the city’s youth as they enter the job market.

The survey is being conducted by newly appointed field surveyors who will collect data from households across Pimpri Chinchwad. This initiative, part of a broader Maharashtra Government effort, provides hands-on training and work experience for young participants, with a six-month stipend directly transferred to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

A total of 241 field surveyor positions were approved by PCMC’s Social Development Department, of which 176 candidates have been selected. Currently, 66 of them have reported for duty, and 20 have completed their preliminary training. These trained surveyors began their fieldwork on 23rd September, with additional candidates expected to join in the coming weeks.

In partnership with the Lighthouse Communities Foundation, the PCMC-led survey will cover more than 1 lakh households, especially targeting slum areas, low-income neighborhoods, and village communities. The data collected from young people between the ages of 18 and 40 will help shape future skill development and employment policies, ensuring that initiatives align with local needs.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized the importance of the survey in the corporation’s broader mission to support youth development, saying, “PCMC is dedicated to creating opportunities for the youth of Pimpri Chinchwad. Through the Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaarya Prashikshan Yojana, we are not only enhancing the employability of young candidates but also preparing them for the workforce of the future.”

Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil also highlighted the potential impact of the initiative, noting, “This is a golden opportunity for young job seekers with qualifications ranging from HSC to post-graduation. They will gain valuable real-world experience, and the financial support provided through DBT ensures that they can focus on their professional development while receiving a stipend.”

Speaking on the strategic importance of the survey, Tanaji Narale, Assistant Commissioner of the Social Development Department, said, “This data will allow us to tailor our skill development and employment programs to meet the specific needs of the youth in our communities. It’s a critical step toward effective policymaking and ensuring the future success of our young citizens.”

PCMC is calling on all residents to cooperate with the field surveyors, as the information gathered will play a pivotal role in shaping future opportunities for the city’s youth. This survey is expected to provide crucial insights that will guide the creation of targeted training and employment initiatives, leading to a more empowered and skilled generation.
