Pune: Sinhagad Road Police Crack Down on Noisy Bullet Bikes, Seize Silencers

Pune, 30th March 2024: Sinhagad Road Police have taken decisive action against the proliferation of noisy Bullet motorcycles in the area, confiscating the silencers of their vehicles.

DCP (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam revealed that strict measures were implemented against 33 Bullet bike drivers for the installation of modified silencers producing deafening noise.

Sinhagad Road Police established a checkpoint under the Vadgaon bridge from 8 pm on Wednesday to 6 am on Thursday, leading to the seizure of 117 two-wheelers during the operation. These vehicles were impounded for various violations, including fancy number plates, triple-seat driving, driving without a license, and unauthorized silencer modifications on Bullet motorcycles.

A total of 33 Bullet drivers faced charges for contravening provisions outlined in the Motor Vehicle Act. Additionally, 11 vehicles fitted with modified silencers were confiscated in accordance with Section 207 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The silencers of the respective Bullet owners were confiscated, with official company silencers subsequently installed. The operation culminated in the imposition of fines totaling Rs. 53,000.

The operation was spearheaded by a dedicated team comprising Senior Inspector Vijay Kumbhar, Inspector (Crime) Raghavendra Singh Kshirsagar, Assistant Police Inspector Niketan Nimbalkar, Police Sub-Inspector Atmaram Ahire, and personnel Dhananjay Girigosavi, Dayanand Kamble, Malhari Sonkamble, and the RCP-3 Platoon.
