Pune: Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati to Embark on Immersion Procession in a Dazzling ‘Mayurpankh Rath’
Pune, 16th September 2024: The prestigious Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal, recognized as the first Ganpati Mandal in India, is set to hold its grand immersion procession this year as well. The procession will feature a spectacularly illuminated chariot, known as the ‘Mayurpankh Rath.’
The event will begin from Lokmanya Tilak’s statue at 8 pm on Tuesday, September 17, and promises to be a stunning visual display, according to Punit Balan, Trustee and Chief Organizer of the event.
Discussing the plans for the immersion, Balan expressed, “This year’s immersion procession of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati will once again be a grand affair. Just as every year, we aim to offer an extraordinary experience to all who participate in Bappa’s farewell.”
The day’s events will start early in the morning, with the ceremonial ‘Puja’ led by Acharya Swami Govind Giri Maharaj at 7:30 AM on Anant Chaturdashi. Following the religious rituals, the beautifully decorated Mayurpankh Rath will make its way from Varad Vighneshwar Wada to Lokmanya Tilak’s statue near Mandai at 8:30 AM. Once the processions of the Manache Ganpati are completed, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati’s grand immersion procession will kick off at 8:30 PM.
This year, the Mayurpankh Rath is adorned with vibrant lighting, adding to its splendor. Several traditional Dhol-Tasha groups, such as Shriram, Shivmudra, and Samarth, will perform along the route, adding to the festive atmosphere. Additionally, various traditional games will be showcased to keep the crowd entertained. “We are committed to completing the procession within the scheduled time,” assured Balan.
“The immersion procession in Pune is a significant attraction for Ganesh devotees, not just locally but globally,” added Balan. “Mandals always strive to make this farewell event as grand and captivating as possible, so that the maximum number of devotees can participate and bid Bappa a heartfelt goodbye.”
