Pune, 16th September 2023: The ‘Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Trust,’ known for its vibrant celebrations during Ganeshotsav, is back with a series of traditional programs and social initiatives for this year’s festivities.

The trust, responsible for India’s first public Ganesha idol, has organized a diverse range of activities to mark Ganeshotsav this year. Alongside traditional rituals and cultural events, they have scheduled various social programs, including the Atharvashirsha Pathan for women and students, reel competitions, health camps, and eye donation drives.

Puneet Balan, a trustee of the trust and the festival’s coordinator, provided insights into the ten-day Ganeshotsav schedule. The celebrations will commence with a grand procession on Ganesh Chaturthi, with the renowned tabla player Padmashri Vijay Ghate presiding over the coronation at 11:50 am. In the following days, school students will visit, and Atharvashirsha recitations will take place. More than three thousand students are expected to participate. Throughout the ten-day festival, students from prestigious schools will visit Bappa (Lord Ganesha) and explore the historic significance of Bhausaheb Rangari Wada, a location closely associated with the freedom struggle and the inception of public Ganeshotsav.

A health camp for devotees is scheduled from September 20 to 26, offering various medical tests and an eye donation camp. Additionally, the first week features reel competitions with attractive prizes for participants at the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati, the historic Krantikari Bhavan.

On September 25, a special women’s Atharvashirsha Pathan will be conducted, expected to draw over two thousand five hundred participants. In the evening of September 26, from 6 pm to 8 pm, a live banjo performance by Mumbai’s renowned Chintamani group will entertain the audience.

Over the ten-day festival, nightly aarti sessions will be conducted by distinguished guests from various fields, including politics, arts, and sports. These guests will visit Bappa’s darshan and the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Bhavan. Numerous bhajani mandals will also contribute to the festive atmosphere.

Balan shared that the festivities will culminate with a grand immersion procession on Anant Chaturdashi.
