Pune: Shramik Special Train Departs with 1093 Passengers to Rewa in Madhya Pradesh

Pune, May 7, 2020: A special Shramik Train (01923) today departed from Pune for Rewa in Madhya Pradesh with 1093 passengers. The train left Uruli railway station at 6.38 pm. Police officials from RPF, GRP and Pune rural police were present for security.

According to officials from Pune railway division, the train with 2 SLR (seating cum luggage rake) and 22 GSCN (sleeper) coaches was brought to the station around noon. The passengers were also taken there and after screening them for any influenza-like illness, they were allowed to board the train. The Pune district administration provided them with food packets and water for the journey. The dinner of the passengers had been arranged by the Gram Panchayat of Uruli.

Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Renu Sharma tweeted a video of the train, “End to end #ShramikSpecial Train number 01923 ex URI (PUNE Division) to REWA left today at 18:38 hrs carrying registered and nominated passengers by the State Government, following the rules of #lockdown.”

A group of 310 workers staying in Bibvewadi area of Pune city left in buses for their native place in Rajasthan on Wednesday night. Pune city police coordinated with the district administration to facilitate their travel. The district administration officials said that they are compiling list of people who are registering online for traveling to their hometowns  More trains and ST buses will used for ferrying stranded people.
