Pune: Sexual Assault on Female Dog Reported in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Case Registered by Hinjawadi Police

Hinjawadi, 20th July 2024: An incident of sexual assault on a female dog has come to light in Pimpri Chinchwad. A case has been registered with the Hinjawadi Police Station regarding the incident. A 10-month-old puppy was assaulted by a resident of West Bengal. The incident occurred behind Hotel Tip Top International, on the ground floor of a building, on Tuesday (16th July) at around 11:45 PM.

Lavlesh Ram Prasad Tiwary (age 29, resident of Wakad) reported the incident to the Hinjawadi Police Station. The police have registered a case against Chiranjeet Nashikant Biswas (age 30, resident of Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal) under the relevant sections of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960.

According to police, the complainant saw the accused taking a female puppy, aged 8 to 10 months, to the ground floor of a building in the MyHome society. In the darkness, the accused was sexually assaulting the female pup, and the complaint states that he was involved in unnatural sex with her. Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat from Hinjawadi Police Station is investigating the matter further.

Anita Shetty, an animal activist from Hinjawadi, told Punekar News that such incidents can be averted with prompt action by reporting them to animal activists and the police station. Prompt action by the police can help in nabbing the culprits. In this case, the accused has been absconding since then.

Wakad Animal Rescue Group volunteers worked on this incident to report it to the police. Citizens can take up any abuse or rescue cases to PFA or Nitesh Khare from SAS India, who extensively supports highlighting and presenting these cases to the police authorities, added Anita.
