Pune: Seven Bangladeshi Nationals Held In Budhwar Peth, Second Major Action In Less Than Two Weeks

Pune 12th Sept 2023: In yet another major action against Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in India, the Social Security Cell of Pune City Police has nabbed seven people from Budhwar Peth area. This include five women and two men who were apprehended by the police in the wee hours on Tuesday.

According to police, the accused had entered illegally in India by crossing the International border and the women were lured into prostitution racket in Budhwar Peth area while men were assisting them in the area. None of the accused arrested have a valid document to stay in India following which the Police have forwarded the matter to local police station where a case is being registered under relevant sections of The Foreigners Act.

“A woman from Nepal who was running ths prostitution racket who had forced these women from Bangladesh in prostitution has been arrested in the case. Apart from these seven accused, a minor girl from Bangladesh was also detained and a separate case will be registered in that matter” said pollice.

It may be noted that the Social Security Cell officials had arrested 19 Bangladeshi nationals from the same area earlier this month for illegally staying in India. The women arrested by police were forced into prostitution while the men were working as hawkers and selling different items in the city to manage their expenses.
