Pune: School Van Hits Woman Walking Dog in Pimpri Chinchwad, Leaving Her Injured

Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th August 2024: A routine dog walk turned tragic for a woman in Pimpri Chinchwad on Monday (11th August) when she was struck by a school van, resulting in serious injuries. The incident occurred at midnight near her residence in Mohan Nagar, Chinchwad.

The injured woman, identified as Deepali Sandeep Shah (48), a resident of Chinchwad, sustained severe injuries to her head, hands, and legs. Following the incident, her husband, Sandeep Hasmukhlal Shah, lodged a complaint at the Pimpri Police Station. A case has been registered against the unidentified school van driver, who fled the scene after the collision.

The case is being investigated under Sections 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) and 125 (neglect of duty) of the Bombay Police Act, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Assistant Police Sub Inspector Tarange of Chinchwad Police Station is leading the investigation.
