Pune, 19th October 2024: Satyaki Savarkar, the grandson of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, has issued a notice to Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao for making derogatory remarks about the freedom fighter. Savarkar has clarified that legal action will be taken against Rao if he does not issue a public apology within 15 days.

Gundu Rao made a controversial statement about Savarkar, claiming, “Freedom fighter Savarkar was not against cow slaughter. His views were fundamentalist.” In response, Satyaki Savarkar, through his lawyer Adv. Sangram Kolhatkar, issued a notice to Gundu Rao stating, “He should issue a public apology within fifteen days. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against him.”

At a book launch event in Karnataka, Gundu Rao compared Savarkar to Mahatma Gandhi and Mohammad Ali Jinnah, making insulting statements that he claims have tarnished Savarkar’s image. This has sparked outrage among Savarkar’s supporters.

Meanwhile, Satyaki Savarkar has filed a suit against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a special court in Pune for making insulting remarks at a non-resident Indians program in London. A case has also been registered against Gandhi at the Vishram Baug police station.
