Pune: Savarkar’s Grand Nephew Seeks Transfer Of Defamation Case Against Rahul Gandhi To ‘Competent Court’

Pune 7th August 2023: The grand-nephew of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has moved an application before Pune sessions court demanding transfer of the defamation case filed against congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the ‘competent court’. Satyaki Savarkar in his application moved on Saturday before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) which was hearing the matter has claimed that the court was feeling burdened by the case and has expressed apprehensions in the past.

He has demanded to transfer the case to any other competent court. According to reports, the application has been accepted by the court and the hearing on the same is likely to take place on Monday.

It may be noted that Satyaki Savarkar had filed a criminal defamation case against Rahul Gandhi for alleged remarks against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during an event in London. The application was moved by him in April this year.

“When speaking at an event in London, Rahul Gandhi said that Savarkar has written a book in which he has written that he and five-six of his friends were beating up a Muslim and felt delighted about what was happening. Rahul Gandhi then went on to ask whether this was not a cowardly act,” Satyaki had said while filing a criminal defamation case.
