Sangvi, 9th November 2023: On the occasion of the Diwali festival, the main markets and streets of the city have witnessed an influx of citizens. Sangvi Police have been working diligently in the Pimple Gurav area for the past two days to maintain law and order and protect the safety of the residents. Simultaneously, the traffic police have been taking action against drivers who do not adhere to road safety rules.

On Tuesday evening, between 7 and 8 p.m., a notable police presence was observed at Kate Puram Chowk in Pimple Gurav. This scene invoked memories of two years ago during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this time, Sangvi Police were actively patrolling Kate Puram Chowk and other busy streets, ensuring the safety of citizens. They also took action against vehicles that violated traffic rules. In these efforts, Sangvi Police collaborated with the traffic police and the Damini Pathak to take action against various violations, including triple seaters on two-wheelers, the use of black film on four-wheelers, and reckless driving. Vehicles were subjected to rigorous checks, including the verification of number plates on both sides, examination of vehicle documents, and licenses, and confirming whether the person driving the vehicle matched the registered owner. As a result, motorists passing through this intersection experienced heightened scrutiny, and some individuals were observed hastily departing the area upon seeing the police.

Citizens, vendors, and businessmen who had come to these busy streets for their Diwali shopping expressed their gratitude towards the Sangvi Police. They appreciated the proactive measures taken by the police to ensure their safety during the festive season. These measures not only alleviate concerns related to accidents, chain snatching, and general panic but also allow them to engage in their festive shopping without fear. The citizens attributed this enhanced safety to the smart city initiatives and the police’s vigilant efforts to maintain law and order.

During the festive season, the Commissioner’s strategy emphasizes the presence of police officers patrolling the streets on foot and maintaining a continuous presence in these areas. This proactive approach serves to deter untoward incidents, accidents, crimes, and mischief. Kate Puram Chowk, being a bustling area, receives special attention. Drivers coming from the Dapodi and Kasarwadi areas are subjected to thorough inspections at this intersection. If a suspect is identified, the vehicle is impounded, and a case is promptly registered. The police assert that ensuring citizens’ safety during the festive season is their paramount duty.

Ramchandra Ghadge, Sangvi Senior Police Inspector, said, “During the festive season, the Commissioner’s concept is that while the police are patrolling the streets on foot, they should stand in the middle of busy Chowks and make continuous efforts to maintain law and order. This will help immensely in curbing any untoward incident, accident, crime, or miscreants. Kate Puram Chowk here is a busy area. If drivers coming from Dapodi, and Kasarwadi areas are found at this intersection, they are being thoroughly investigated. If such a suspect is found, the vehicle will be impounded and a case will be registered immediately. Keeping citizens safe is our duty during the festive season.”
